Background

Hello and welcome to my blog!  Ever have a conversation with an old acquaintance and when they ask what you've been up to lately you really have to think hard about it and often answer with something like, "oh you know, just working mostly"?  OK, well that's fine because except for a very lucky few, we all have to work.  However, lately I've been thinking about that question again, "what have you been up to?", and have been trying to think of what I do outside of work, school, and things I need to do.  What do I do on the weekends.... spend time with friends and family, go to the bar, watch a movie, watch sports, etc.  Now, those are all enjoyable activities ofcourse, but for conversation's sake they can be a bit of a buzz-kill after a while.  It would be more fun to be able to answer the question with something like, "I went bungy jumping this weekend, zorbing last weekend, and am planning to try out kite surfing and hang-gliding soon."  Imagine the look on the person's face and the plethora of questions suddenly filling their brain.  Now that is a conversation starter!  Not that it should be a competition to sound like you have the cooler life every time you see an old friend, but personally I get tired of the same old routine after a while and have been looking for new activities to spice it up.  I will be researching various hobbies that sound exciting to me and posting my research here on this blog.  Hopefully I'll be able to find out where you can try them, how much it costs, and what you need to get started.  Please feel free to respond to any posts if you've tried that particular hobby and would like to give advice or if you're interested and just want to make a comment.  Carpe diem!

I'll also be adding some design vocabulary to satisfy project requirements for my Interface Design class.
