Zorbing

I’ve never tried this, but it looks like fun!
Zorbing is the name for climbing into a giant plastic ball and rolling down a hill like a hamster.  The orb has in inner core where 1-3 riders can either be harnessed or not and have the option of riding with a small amount of water in the orb.  It originated in New Zealand and is also known as globe-riding, sphereing, and orbing.  Zorbing can really be done anywhere if you actually found somebody with an orb.  To try it out with professionals, the closest places seem to be West near Carlisle, PA and North in the Pocono Mountains.  It doesn’t seem to be too expensive, perhaps $40 per person.

Radial Design - When all the elements in a design point towards one point.
The radial design of the orb draw the viewers eye to the person inside the orb.
Value - A measure of relative lightness or darkness.
The value of the sky in the background changes from light orange to dark orange.

Surfing

I’d like to try this someday.  An entire culture and lifestyle has been created around surfing so it must be pretty amazing to ride those waves.  The closest place to give it a try would be the New Jersey shore, but some of the better places in the world include California, Hawaii, and the South Pacific such as Australia.  For such a laid back hobby with a lifestyle about everything except money, it’s ironic that surfing is actually pretty expensive to get started.  A new board costs between 200 and 800 dollars and a wet suit can cost 100 dollars as well.  The best way to get started is by taking lessons which cost about $100.

Abstraction - A visual representation that may have little resemblance to the real world. Abstraction can occur through a process of simplification or distortion in an attempt to communicate an essential aspect of a form or concept.
The surfing photo uses unrealistic colors and altered shapes to create an abstraction of a real surfing photo.

Rock Climbing

I’ve been rock climbing outdoor once in Maine and a few times in rock gyms.  It’s a very inexpensive hobby to get started in as an hour in a local rock gym is only 10-15 dollars.  In order to climb on your own you must learn to tie the proper knots and rappel safely.

Figure - Any positive shape or form noticeably separated from the background or, the negative space.
Ground - The surface of a two-dimensional design that acts as the background or surrounding space for the “figures” in the composition.
The contrast of the dark cliff and climber in comparison to the light background makes for a great example of a figure and ground relationship.

Sky Diving

This is at the top of my list of things to try.

Primary colors The three colors from which all other colors can theoretically be mixed. The primaries of pigments are traditionally presented as red, yellow, and blue, while the primaries of light are red, blue, and green.

Warm colorA color that appears to be closer to the yellow-to-red side of the color wheel.

Scuba Diving

I'm a certified open water scuba diver.  I've been diving in Massachusetts and the Florida Keys.  I also went snorkeling in the Bahamas and Aruba.  It's a very expensive hobby that I'd like to do more often when I have the resources.

Cool color -  A color closer to blue on the color wheel.
Hue - A property of color defined by distinctions within the visual spectrum or color wheel. “Red”, “blue”, “yellow”, and “green” are examples of hue names.
Everything underwater has a blue hue even thought it may not actually be blue, like the sand for example.
